Central Limburg is bursting with talent. But how do our students find their way into the local business world in a way that really suits them? And how do we do that without overcharging schools and businesses? The answer is 'The Future Builders'.
Within this powerful collective, SOML, Keyport, Gilde Opleidingen, STO, Techkwadraat and Yuverta are joining forces. In time, the LWV, the municipality of Roermond and Park Management Limburg will also join.
The aim?
A central platform where education and business seamlessly meet and find each other for LOB activities (career orientation and guidance) such as internships, company visits, guest lessons and practical projects, such as Technasium and the practical programme for VMBO and HAVO.
No standard solutions, but truly customised
We are moving away from the idea that every activity must be classroom-based. The strength of The Future Builders lies in customisation. We believe that a student only gets truly excited when an experience matches his or her personal interests and ambitions. Whether it is an individual taster placement, a specific company visit or a unique practical project.
Entry without extra ballast
We know that the pressure on schools and companies is great. Future Builders is not there to create more work, but to coordinate, direct and unburden. In the coming period, we will enter into further discussions with all parties to find out where the real needs lie. No extra regulatory pressure, but a smart approach that is perfectly geared to the annual calendars of schools and the capacity of companies.
Why this makes a difference
The mandatory 'extracurricular learning' requires an approach that looks beyond the classroom. By joining forces, we offer added value for everyone:
- For the learner: No compulsory numbers, but the chance to discover their own talents based on personal interest. Thus, the region becomes a tailor-made journey of discovery.
- For deans and teachers: Full support in providing a diverse and individual LOB programme and help with internship issues without the organisational hassle.
- For the company: Through short lines of communication (including through the Limburg Employers' Association and Park Management Limburg), efficient contact with education and thus with motivated students who are consciously oriented.
Look to the future: 2026 as a milestone
We will continue full steam ahead with the successful JobXperiences (www.keyport.nl/jobxperience), not only for our apprentices but also for our fellow teachers; this is the foundation for our further ambitions. In September 2026, we will present the official landing page where supply and demand in Central Limburg will definitely come together. As icing on the cake, in 2026 we will organise a vocational experience event for VO in the Roermond region. A unique moment where meeting, experiencing and talent development on a large scale are central. By listening, joining forces and focusing on the individual student, we will keep talent in Central Limburg and make the connection between school and practice stronger than ever.
