Closing event Interreg project SUN - Sustainable and Natural Sidestreams
Despite Corona, we succeeded! Borders could be overcome and the joint research activities led to promising results. This successful conclusion of the Interreg project SUN will be celebrated and you are cordially invited to the Villa Flora in Venlo on 16-11-2022, 1:30 p.m.
Interreg project SUN
The German-Dutch project SUN is committed to a possible applications of food-grade by-products from the processing of fruit and vegetable products. This would thus avoid degradation of these side streams to animal feed or energy use in biogas plants.
The aim of the project is to develop new and sustainable recipes and products, taking into account the framework of food legislation.
The road to new products or recipes involves many different work steps:
- Registration of side streams and their use of materials
- Development of new drying and extraction processes
- Development of new recipes
- Legal assessment of side streams and new products developed from them
Within the SUN project, the knowledge of all project partners is used to develop new, sustainable products, this opens up important market opportunities and makes a major ecological contribution.
