Brightlands is planting its flag in the heart of innovative Holland this year, the Dutch Design Week in Eindhoven (Saturday, Oct. 22 to Sunday, Oct. 30). With over 350,000 visitors from home and abroad, the Dutch Design Week (DDW) is Northern Europe's largest design and innovation event.
We are participating because DDW, like Brightlands, focuses on innovation and crossovers. With this initiative, we increase our (inter)national exposure and connect with young talent: almost half of DDW visitors are under the age of 40.
Our presence falls into two parts: a circular pavilion on the Ketelhuisplein (the hotspot of DDW) and five exclusive 'meet & greets' in the nearby NatLab (the birthplace of dozens of Philips innovations).

The world faces enormous challenges. That's why we design Tomorrow's Life. In our pavilion, visitors will get a taste of that with designs that will change our lives, such as:
- Culture meat
- Tomatoes as medicine for the future
- The belt that keeps you balanced
- Your poop as the key to health
- Shrimp coatings for a heart valve
- Bicycle fashion from PET bottles
- Poverty reduction with AI
Meet designers from Tomorrow's Life
A little further on, in the NatLab, we challenge young talents to join our mission. We ask them, "What piece of Tomorrow's Life would you like to design? In small groups they discuss this with some of our most appealing researchers and entrepreneurs etc. In an intimate setting, they will share what they have experienced along the way. These meet & greets take place every afternoon and are accessible (free of charge) after registration.
