Symposium Circular Agriculture and Health
Want to know more and have a say about circular agriculture in relation to livestock farming and health? Then come to the symposium of the Knowledge Platform Livestock Farming and Human Health in Arnhem on Friday, October 14. In the great challenges ahead, we zoom in on circular agriculture and the role of livestock farming in it, focusing on human health.
During lectures and workshops, experts and experts by experience will address scientific and societal issues about circular agriculture in relation to livestock farming and human health. Between the various program components there will be plenty of time to meet, network and exchange experiences.
This will be a day for professionals from municipalities, provinces, agricultural industry, environmental services, GGD (Municipal/Regional Health Service)-s, and knowledge institutions. Administrators and citizen representatives interested in the topic are also cordially invited.

- 13:45 - 14:30 Plenary: Arjan Stegeman (professor of farm animal health care, Utrecht University), "Circular agriculture without circulating zoonoses". The Netherlands faces an enormous challenge in making livestock farming sustainable. Given the current environmental and climate challenges, there is a risk that all efforts will be focused on reducing nitrogen and CO2 (Carbon dioxide ). However, the past has shown that a one-dimensional approach often foreshadows a new problem in the future. The transition to sustainable livestock farming therefore requires an integrated approach in which the approach to zoonoses deserves explicit attention. What is needed for sustainable livestock farming without circulating zoonoses?
- 14:30 - 15:30 Workshops second round: parallel workshops
- 15:30 - 16:00 Drinks
