Op Thursday, June 22, the LLTB and its partners of the Platform Nieuwe TeeltenĀ in Sevenum are organizing an information morning for farmers on growing fiber crops for construction. Topics will include the concept of biobased construction, the possibilities and advantages of fiber cultivation for the farmer and earning models. This meeting is a deepening of the March 30 symposium in Venlo.
Chains from land to premises contribute to various social and regional goals and challenges in the areas of water, soil, climate, agriculture and housing. Growing fiber crops leads to an improvement in soil and water quality and to new earning models for farmers (both dairy farmers and arable farmers). In addition, Limburg has a major construction and renovation challenge that cannot be met if only conventional (and environmentally harmful) building materials continue to be used. Bio-based building materials from the Netherlands are a sustainable alternative. The major advantage is that they capture CO2 while contributing to a new economic and ecological perspective for Limburg.
