Shaping the energy transition in the Euregion using sustainable hydrogen

Would you like to get in touch with Euregional players in the field of hydrogen?  For example, because you want to make your company more sustainable through the use of hydrogen? Or because you are considering participating in projects that will generate or use hydrogen?

Then you will soon have 2 opportunities for this! The first is on Tuesday, Oct. 11, during the seminar: hydrogen, the fuel of the future? This event will take place at the T2 Campus in Genk. The second opportunity is on Friday, October 21 during a hydrogen event at the Brightlands Chemelot Campus in Geleen. LIOF is facilitating the matchmaking.

About these events

During both events various top speakers will share insights on the latest developments of applications and technologies in the field of mobility, industry and energy storage. You will meet local and international companies offering services and products, as well as build your hydrogen network. More info about the event on October 11 can be found here.

How do we shape the energy transition in the Euroregion using sustainable hydrogen?

During this event on Friday, October 21 at the Brightlands Chemelot campus in Geleen, several speakers will talk about the opportunities of hydrogen for numerous parties in the Euregion in general and Dutch Limburg in particular. 

In the morning we introduce some key concepts and discuss the vision and mission of this transition. We then explore strengths and weaknesses, threats and opportunities with key players from industry, government, knowledge institutions and citizens. We end part 1, the morning, with initial high level agreements on what the players of the so-called quadruple helix (industry, governments, knowledge institutions and citizens) can and will do.

During this part, we will also launch the Hydrogen Coalition Limburg and highlight some of the projects already started, including the EMR Hydrogen Booster being developed in collaboration with 7 other EMR organizations (more on that in the afternoon). 

After lunch we will zoom out to the Euregion and focus on the opportunities specifically for business. We will discuss the Interreg project EMR Hydrogen Booster and highlight the hydrogen projects to which companies can subscribe. It is also possible to become better acquainted with the hydrogen players in the Euregion. LIOF is facilitating this matchmaking.

Which hydrogen projects are going to come,

Within the Interreg EMR Hydrogen Booster we are looking for enthusiastic parties who want to participate in the following projects, but new initiatives are also welcome: 1. Develop and establish a Hydrogen Hub (Living Lab, test and demo-center) at Avantis (Heerlen-Aachen). 2. A bus connection with hydrogen buses between Maastricht-Aachen and Liège with associated infra as refueling stations and generation. 3. Hydrogen generation (electrolyser) at Saint Gobain and waste heat use in residential area Herzogenrath. 4. Hydrogen for inland navigation within EMR, tank-infra, vessel conversion and bunkering.
